Introducing Mangawhai Village Pies (M.V.P.)

 

Crafted with passion right here in Mangawhai by the talented team at The Barbecue Hut, our Mangawhai Village Pies (M.V.P.) are more than just a convenient feed on the run - they are a testament to quality, flavour, and local pride. We believe that a great pie starts with the best ingredients, and that's exactly what you'll find in every single one of our creations.

Our inspiration comes directly from the smoky, savory heart of our popular barbecue and smoked menu. We've taken those beloved flavours and transformed them into a truly unique pie experience. This isn't your average pie; it's a culinary journey in every bite, blending tender, succulent fillings with rich, from-scratch gravy & sauces that will have you coming back for more.

  • Silver Fern Farms Smoked Beef Brisket: Slow-smoked to perfection, our premium Silver Fern Farms beef brisket is incredibly tender and packed with a deep, smoky flavour.

  • Smoked and Barbecued Mutton with Mint: A unique and unforgettable combination of tender, slow-cooked mutton, barbecued to bring out its natural richness, and brightened with just a hint of refreshing mint

  • Barbecue Pork and Vegetable (Hāngī-Inspired): Melt-in-your-mouth barbecue pork is combined with hearty vegetables in a rich gravy, drawing inspiration from the traditional smoky flavours of a hāngī.

  • Chunky Smoked Seafood Chowder: A luxurious and creamy chowder filled with generous chunks of smoked seafood, offering a taste of the coast in a golden crust.

  • Artisan Bacon and Egg with House-Smoked Cheese: A classic with a Barbecue Hut twist. We combine smoky, streaky bacon with a perfectly cooked egg and our own decadent house-smoked cheese for a pie that's pure indulgence. Suitable for brekkie, brunch, lunch or dinner!!

  • Barbecue Pork Rib (Off-the-Bone): All the flavour of our famous barbecue pork ribs, without the mess. We take the tender meat right off the bone and pack it into a pie with our signature sauce and whipped spud.

Every pie we make is a journey of pride, from the meticulously prepared fillings to the perfectly golden, flaky pastry that holds it all together. The result is a pie that simply "hits different," delivering a depth of flavor and satisfaction you won't find anywhere else.
